The World Cup matches should be held in Toronto since it was successful in having a pro Canada crowd. The reason Toronto was
successful of having a pro Canada squad because most of the fans were Toronto
FC fans and they knew of Sutton and Brennan and wanted to see their local
favorites play for their country. Who does Montreal Impact have right now that
is on the National Team. No One! Before maybe Gerba, but not anymore.
To the lineup I opt not to
choose Stalteri since the fact he is not playing regularly in England and most
of the time plays out of position. Also, he is the captain and should organize
the back line which he has done poorly in recent matches.
I am undecided between Friend
and Radzinski since Friend plays great when he gets good ball to him him, and
have one of the best headers in CONCACAF region, but not sure about him playing
fast football and being partnered up with another striker. Radzinski is a great
provider on the left side and feed great balls in the box to rushing
midfielders and strikers. He draws defenders to him allowing his teammates being
more open(Evidence in the Jamaica game), this is great for playing alongside
Gerba who is a great striker Canada has in recent years since Burnaby. 10 goals
in 20 games at 26 years of age.
Also, undecided between Sutton
and Hirschfield since Sutton is a big game player who makes outstanding saves,
and keep his team in contention even with bad defending (Watch a TFC game and
you will know what I mean). The problem with Sutton even though very tall, he
does not hold on to the ball well. Hirschfield is great, and the only 'keeper
playing in Europe consistently and in Champions League making great saves
against top teams like Barca.
With only one point in three games and the next three games we must get maximum points in order to have a chance to move on, the bad news is the fact that two of these games are away from home, but then again even playing in Canada it is like an away game anyways so maybe that is to our advantage.
If we are out of the World Cup,
leave the fate in the young players to build the future for Canada like
Jakovic, Nakajima-Farran, Hume, Edgar, Jamie Peters, Will Johnson, de Jong,
Hainault and Asmir Begović.
