Over the next few articles, we’ll be analysing each of the Battle of the Nations Overall tables and picking out the performances of some of the more notable players and nations. As always, we want to know what you think of the tournament – not just the results but the whole tournament experience – so please feel free to add your comments below.
We’re going to start today with a quick overview of the whole Battle of the Nations tournament – just to get you thinking…
Let’s start at the top. France came in at number one on the Overall Nation leaderboard. This is fascinating when you compare it to the real life tournament – France did not perform as well as they might have hoped out there in Austria and Switzerland, yet here they are with a first place on Battle of the Nations – good going guys. Allez les Bleus!
Looking at the top ten in the Overall Nation table, there are some echoes of real life. Spain and Germany both feature highly – Spain are close on France’s heels in 2nd and Germany are in 6th place. There are a few surprises though – Russia and Turkey are both well out of the top ten, for example.
Carhonte came top of the overall 360 board. Carhonte and
seiya333 proved to be almost unstoppable at the front. With both these players choosing Spain as their supported Nation, perhaps they were buoyed on by their team’s great performance in the tournament.
chili243 topped the overall PS3 board. He was the only player to have chosen Sweden in the top 20. This is impressive – if a fan whose team went out in the group stages keeps soldiering on and ultimately makes the top of the table, they deserve some serious respect.
sylface has done a good job too, getting one of the host nations (Switzerland) into the top ten, at number five.
The players in the top ten places of each of the two consoles’ Overall leaderboards seem to have gained most of their points from the two Kick Off modes – Team and Be a Pro – pretty much evenly. UEFA EURO 2008 was the next most popular mode.
The total combined points earned by all the players in the top ten spots of the console leaderboards was an impressive 445852! Approaching half a million points – great work, guys.
To everyone that played the game and enjoyed the tournament, a big BIG “thank you” from the Football World team. We hope you enjoyed this new feature and look forward to giving you more great features to play and chat about in the run up to FIFA09…
