Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is adidas Live Season?
adidas Live Season is a service that allows you to track the form of your team in the FIFA 09 game on a weekly basis in response to real-life form changes for your team throughout the entire football season. The leagues supported by the adidas Live Season service are;- England: Premier League- France: Ligue 1- Spain: La Liga- Italy: Serie A- Germany: Bundesliga 1- Mexico: Primera División
Q: How do I activate adidas Live Season?
The adidas Live Season service is enabled through your console and is provided in the form of a separate Form Update database that you download on a weekly basis. This Form Update database applies a temporary form change to the standard player database used by FIFA 09 for that week only. When you first load the game, you will be asked to choose a league to which the adidas Live Season form updates will be applied for free for that season. The code required for the adidas Live Season subscription is printed on the back of the game manual. You can then purchase additional adidas Live Season service updates for each of the other five supported leagues if you so wish. Once you have selected your chosen league(s), you are then entitled to receive weekly form updates for them for the entire season.
Q: Do the form changes always improve a player's performance in game?
No, the form updates can be both positive and negative, so you need to review the updates carefully in order to pick the best in-form starting 11 players for that week.
Q: Are the updates permanent?
The form updates apply for that week only, so a player who has been rated significantly up will only be significantly up for that one week… unless of course he is rated significantly up again in the following week’s update.
Q: How are the form changes displayed?
Form changes for each affected player are shown in the player squads in the game, as well as on the adidas Live Season widget and subsequent adidas Live Season pages on Football World.
Q: How do I check a players past form?
You can view the history of all form changes for the season through Football World to see exactly who has been consistently punching above their weight and who has been woefully under-performing throughout the season.
Q: How do I give feedback on player form?
You can suggest form changes to as many players as you wish in the supported leagues through Football World, and these suggestions will be considered by the World Wide Editors in making their weekly decisions. Further to this, you can submit your top five player form changes to an adidas Live Season Leaderboard. If your Top 5 Picks match those of the World Wide Editors, you will gain points and improve your position on the overall leaderboard.
Q: How do I find a player to give feedback on?
Clicking through the adidas Live Season widget on Football World takes you to the Live Season pages. Here you can switch between Player Form, Top 5 Picks, Form History and the Form Leaderboard by a series of tabs at the top of each page. To select a player, go to the Player Form tab and select the last result for that player’s team. You can then select the player from the squad list. Alternatively, you can search for players individually by name from any of the Live Season pages.
Q: Can I propose form changes to the World Wide Editors
Yes you can. Through Football World you can suggest as many form changes as you like for all six supported leagues.
Q: Can I change my suggestions once I have made them?
Yes. Your changes are effectively live, so the World Wide Editors can take a snapshot of all changes proposed by the community at any point in time. Therefore, you can rate a player significantly up after one game and down after the next game, all in the same week.
Q: How often does the adidas Live Season database get updated?
The adidas Live Season form database is updated every week throughout the Football season.
Q: Who determines what updates are made?
EA’s extensive group of World Wide Editors decide the form changes for the players, based on media reviews of their performances and community feedback through Football World where appropriate. These World Wide Editors are effectively EA’s group of football experts who maintain the in-game player database in accordance with the relative skill and form of the real-life players, season after season. EA has approximately 1,000 people who follow football matches globally to provide feedback to the 100 or so World Wide Editors.
Q: How much does adidas Live Season cost?
The Live Season service is free for one of the six supported leagues for the entire season. Additional leagues can be purchased for £4.99 (or 550 points on Xbox Live Marketplace) per league per season, or you can purchase all additional leagues for the season for a total cost of £12.99 (1600 points on Xbox Live Marketplace).
Q: How does the Top 5 Picks Leaderboard work?
Each week your Top 5 Picks are scored against the changes made by the World Wide Editors. For each direct match, you score two points, and for each close match you score one point.A direct match is where your suggested change is exactly the same as a World Wide Editor change.A close match is where your suggested change is in the same direction as the World Wide Editors. so if you say Rio Ferdinand should be "significantly up" but the World Wide Editors just set Rio Ferdinand to "up", that is a close match. You don’t lose points for disagreeing with the World Wide Editors (i.e. by suggesting a player should down-graded but the World Wide Editors upgrade that player).Over the course of the season, your weekly scores accumulate such that at the end of the season the person who has most closely matched the World Wide Editors’ changes throughout the season will be at the top of the leaderboard.
Q: Can I change my Top 5 Picks once I have changed them?
Yes, providing that the Form Update period for that week is still open. The Form Update period is open for seven days each week, during which time you can amend your Top 5 Picks as the real-life games are played out. Once the Form Update period closes, your Top 5 Picks for that week are stored and the period re-opens immediately for the following week, and so on until the end of the season.Note that it is only your Top 5 Picks – as compared against the official Form Update database – which will determine your score on the adidas Live Season Leaderboard.
Q: Where do I get the latest Form Database download from?
The latest form updates can be downloaded easily through the adidas Live Season menu option in the game. When you subscribe for the first time, you will be given the option to download your first form update.
Q: How do I buy extra leagues?
For the PS3, they can be purchased through the PlayStation Network at a price of £4.99 per additional league per season, or £12.99 for all additional leagues for one season. For the Xbox 360, they can be purchased through Xbox Live Marketplace at a price of 550 points per additional league per season, or 1,600 points for all additional leagues for one season. For the PC, they can be purchased through EA Store at a price of £4.99 per additional league per season, or £12.99 for all additional leagues for one season.
Q: What are my form change options and how do they work in the game?
You can choose to modify the form of a player in one of five ways:- Significantly Up (significantly improves performance)- Up (improves performance)- Return to default (for when a player is currently modified in the current Form Update database and you think he should go back to his default performance value)- Down (degrades performance)- Significantly Down (significantly degrades performance). The player's initial default database value determines just how much of an increase/decrease you see in that player's performance for each form change. For example, a player who is given a "significantly up" form change with a default starting value of 50-60 will have a visually greater performance shift than a player with a high default starting value (80-90) given the same "significantly up" form change. On Football World, you can see the net impact of each form change as you make the change, in terms of the actual performance improvement it will make and how that modified player then compares to all other players who play in the same position in that league.
Q: Can I disable adidas Live Season once I have subscribed if I decide I don't want to use it?
Yes you can. You can control whether adidas Live Season is enabled or disabled on a game by game basis on the console.
Q: What is the reference point for adidas Live Season changes?
The reference point is always the default database value in the in-game player database. Therefore, all of your suggestions should be based on how the player is playing in real life in relation to his default database value... not his current or last week's form.
Q: Do my opponents have to have adidas Live Season enabled to play against them?
No, you can quite happily play an online game with one adidas Live Season modified team against an unmodified team.
Q: Why can't I see any pictures displaying in the Photos section?
This is due to a security setting on versions of Internet Explorer. Select tools from your browser menu, then click on 'Internet Options'. Select 'Security', then 'Trusted sites'. Click on the 'sites' button, then add http://*.easports.com/ as a trusted site. Restart your browser, and the pictures should now display properly.
Q: Where are my statistics?
Once you've logged in, go to 'My FootballWorld'. If this is the first time you've used this page, click on the 'Add Widgets' button. Click the 'Add' button on 'My Performance', then click complete. You should now see a widget called 'My Performance' on yoru page. If you click on 'more' you'll get a detailed breakdown of your performance (online and connected single-player), as well as a list of the acheivements that you have earned. This also works when looking at other people's profiles- a chance to see if your friends are as good as they say they are!
