Online football feels like pinball, but FIFA 09 is looking good!

Playing online is an arcade experience, which is why people like it I guess. Fair enough, when a quick pass sets up a goal, even then this is usually the result of the puck careening around the air hockey table. This sums up most goals; nice finishes to chaotic build ups (if you can call them that.) The rest are just dumb luck, and I'm speaking of my own too. It's just not like playing a person who's there with you or the trusty CPU for which I have found a whole new appreciation. FIFA 09 is going to have dramatically different physical modeling so that the players respond to contact based on their attributes and what type of player they are, who they are etc. which I hope translates into more realistic online play. The Ball just careens all over the place, doesn't go where it's supposed to, neither do the players sometimes (those unintentional cutbacks with players taking jagged leaps and bounds covering body lengths of space that leave me thinking, "Wow what a move, wish I had meant to do that." FIFA 09 also has the new customized tactics (which is missing in EURO 08 because you can't change anything w/o the whole thing going pear shaped) which could make playing the CPU feel more natural and hopefully simulate realtime adjustments. Both of these innovations sound really, really, really cool. I'm starting to get excited for October!
