Another week of gossip and news has passed (with rather more emphasis on the gossip). Here are a few of the stories we’re keeping our eyes on.

A few rumours - no guarantees these are true:
  • Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo fancies a move to Real Madrid. Every man and his dog has advice for him on whether it’s a good idea.
  • Crystal Palace striker Victor Moses is at the centre of a bidding war between his club and Arsenal.
  • Andrei Arshavin is still looking for a move – but latest target Tottenham have been put off by his hefty pricetag.
  • Aston Villa will put in a last minute bid for Sunderland-bound Younes Kaboul.
  • Greek side Panathinaikos are going after Wigan’s Emile Heskey.
  • Gareth Barry’s move from Aston Villa to Liverpool is still on the cards but Villa’s manager Martin O’Neill is putting pressure on Liverpool to get a move on. Some reports say O’Neill wants Barry to stay.
  • Blackburn Rovers have agreed to a £3.5m deal for Paul Robinson, if reports are to be believed.
  • Sulley Muntari has confirmed he is close to joining Inter Milan (which might put an end to Mourinho’s attempts to lure Lampard from Chelsea).
  • Portsmouth might spend the £12 million they should get for Muntari on Shawn Wright-Philips.

News this week:
  • Liverpool have signed David Ngog from French club Paris St Germain.
  • Blackburn reluctantly let Brad Friedal go to Aston Villa.
  • West Ham have got hold of Valon Behrami from Lazio.
  • Defender Krisztian Timar will stay at Plymouth for another 3 years.
  • Everton captain Phil Neville has signed a new four-year contract with the club.

And have you got a strong opinion on the 2012 Olympics – what do you think about England having a team there?

Heard a rumor that Alex Ferguson told Cristiano Ronaldo that if he moves to Real Madrid he is not going to do well, plus he is going to miss Manchester Utd. do to the fact that Cristiano R is the most popular player on this team. If this is true, Man. Utd. only wants to keep Cristiano for the profit he is bringing to the team.

A Great Britain team would mean all the home nations coming together and sacrificing their national teams. So no more Scotland, England, Wales or N.Ireland, we would all become Great Britain. If we play as Great Britain in the Olympics the European Championship would probably want the same thing. There is no way they will risk this so its not going to happen not even as a one off.

However as host nation for the 2012 Olympics we already qualify so we don't have to sort out qualifying which would be a political nightmare. So what I think is more likely to happen (and Mr Blatter doesn't see it as a problem) is all the players playing for a GB team would come from only one of the home national associations most likely England as London is the host.

I do hope they sort the details out for the mens and ladies GB team soon as we really need to start putting plans together to see both GB team's lift a gold medal at Wembley.

I heard a rumor that England might try to have a UK team with all the home nations. Isn't that crazy? Can't see that happening at all. Also, I don't think Ronaldo is going anywhere. It will happen eventually but not this year. He beats up on the weaker teams and allows United to rack up points, and I think Sir Alex sees Chelsea as vulnerable this year, so he thinks he can pick up another Premiership title fairly easily. (With all the changes at Stamford Bridge and The Emirates, I think Liverpool may be their closest competition this year). If Ronaldo purposefully disrupted the team, then he could get out, but his image and his sponsors can't afford that. It'll happen in the next year or two, but not now.
